How To Add SMF To An Existing Application Using Visual Studio

Step 1: Run the SMF Install package, this will install the SMF binaries and register the associated controls with the Visual Studio toolbox.

Step 2: From within your Silverlight application select “Add Reference” to reference the SMF libraries, which should be located under the .NET tab. At a minimum you’ll need to select the following:
  • Microsoft.SilverlightMediaFramework
  • Microsoft.SilverlightMediaFramework.Plugins
  • Microsoft.SilverlightMediaFramework.Utilities

Step 3: From the Visual Studio Toolbox, find the SMFPlayer, and drag it onto your application’s design surface. You can now configure the SMFPlayer to play media from within your application.
