How do display the first frame?

May 28, 2010 at 10:54 AM

Is there a way to display the first video frame when the player is loaded instead of just showing a black screen?

Thank you!

On the MediaElement for the player set AutoPlay = false. I've seen this load the first frame and sit there waiting for the user to hit play. It may vary depending upon the type of media you're connecting to.

The AutoPlay is set to false, but I still get a black background instead of the first frame.

Create a timer, set the media volume to zero. Wait till the duration of the media is >0 then pause it. Move the position of the media back to the start and put the volume back to normal.

emil, if you have an image capture of the "thumbnail" you would like to display, set the PlaylistItem.ThumbSource.  The player will display this before loading the video as long as it is not set to Autoload.
