I am using SMF with SSME and have just implemented FastForward and Rewind functionality.

Once I set the StartFastForward and IncrementFastForward, the video freezes and a few seconds later I receive the MediaError 3050.

I have a test asset and it works fine.

The manifest for the asset that is not working has a <Protection> and <ProtectionHeader> entry whereas the test asset does not.

Not sure if that makes a difference, but I can't see any difference.

Both assets show that I have Supported Playback Rates of -8, -4, .25, 1, 4 & 8

Any ideas here???

I've found (or rather a client found) a nasty bug in my players where disabling the closed captions (by clicking the CC button) causes a crash.

After investigating the issue, it's a stack overflow that occurs during measurements to fit text in panels, more precisely, it crashes in CaptionBlockRegion.WrapElement(...) called from
CaptionBlockRegion.RenderElementRecurse(...).

My workaround is disabling text wrapping in all my custom subtitle plugins, but I feel there must be a bug somewhere in SMF.

For instance, in the RenderElementRecurse method, there's a test :

if (... && element.CurrentStyle.Display == System.Windows.Visibility.Visible)

That I feel at first glance that should be failing. I may be totally wrong for this property's meaning though.

It looks like the caption rendering isn't properly aware that it should try to render, and ends up in a bad state where the content hasn't got a proper size, thus exploding during the measure attempt.

I have implemented SMF by following documentation, I don't have Wp7 device, so I was only able to test it on emulator, but when I run the applicatoin, no video is played, I am doing Smooth Streaming implementation, its just shows the player. I am using Encoder
4.0 for Video encoding. IIS Smoothing streaming encoding is supported on emulator or not?

I've looked at the existing discussions on this topic, but they all seem to pre-date the 2.x release, so they're not really applicable anymore.

I've modified the player so that when in fullscreen the controllerstrip disappears, then reappears on a mousemove event. However, I'm unable to get it to fade again after a time delay. The only way I've been able to make it disappear again is to check the
position of the mouse and have it disappear when the cursor moves to the far right of the screen. This isn't the solution we want.

I've looked at the online tutorials (specifically the Channel 9 reference), but the discussion doesn't seem to apply to 2.x because, with all the new abstraction, you don't get the storyboarding options in Blend when editing generic.xaml. I've tried adding
the effect in code per the MSDN posts, but what I'm running into is that I have no object to bind the storyboard to. The controllerstrip doesn't have an OpacityProperty DependencyProperty and the player ("this") doesn't have a name property. I've tried registering
the name, but the RegisterName method is showing up in any of the namespaces where it's supposed to exist (System.Windows.Markup or System.Windows.FrameworkElement).

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

This does not play using SMF but plays fine using a plain SSME. As soon as I change the names to be different, it starts working in SMF, as well.

I am not seeing any exceptions in the debugger - the video simply does not play. I can see with Fiddler that before it stops, one or two requests are made for the first fragments of the first two channels (audio and video), whereas no requests are made for the caption channel.

Since debugging does not show me any errors, I am not sure where to dig for a fix. Is this a known issue? Can it be fixed easily?

New Post: Displaying last frame on playlist item change

Hey there,

Due to some project specific constraints, I have to play my contents as a playlist of severak 7 minute items. While the change between items is quite fast (around 1 or 2 seconds) the fact that the player goes black while changing clip is distracting and
somewhat disruptive of the whole user experience. Is it possible to keep displaying the last frame of a playlist item while loading the next clip?

Thanks!
