how to play .mp4

Hello,

Can someone please guide me on how to play a local .mp4 file with the SMF player using Silverlight. I am able to play "http://streams.smooth.vertigo.com/elephantsdream/Elephants_Dream_1024-h264-st-aac.ism/manifest" as per given in samples. But when I provide a link "http://localhost/new_vid/winserver2012_vid/Sample%204k%20UHD%20(Ultra%20HD)%20video%20download_encoded-7000k.mp4" it fails with an excetion.
I have one more query as do we need to specify /manifest in the URL ?

Thanks

see http://ClipFlair.codeplex.com - the MediaPlayer class extends SMFPlayer one and has easy method to load local file via file dialog

if I remember well there is a SetSource method to set the stream to the player

you have to open the file using an OpenFileDialog though that user shows via some interaction (say file open button in your UI)

for file on local webserver, you have to edit your site's web.config to allow MP4 filetype I think, plus add ClientAccessPolicy.xml that allows from any (served from anywhere) Silverlight client access
