Streaming non-caption textual data

Is it possible to stream time-synchronized, non-caption text data using the SMF/MMP API? I see many examples of how to place text captions within the video at an appropriate time. However, the requirements for my application call for streaming multiple time-synchronized text strings to be displayed along-side the video in a separate panel. (It's spacecraft telemetry, in case you're curious.) What is the maximum amount of data that can be streamed in a TextStream? What is the manifest schema for including non-caption data in a smooth streaming presentation? Thx for any guidance or related examples!

It turns out that this is indeed possible, using a StreamIndex of type "text" and subtype "DATA". There's a good example in Chapter 11 of Silverlight Recipes 2nd Edition. I'm still interested in finding other MMP-specific examples if anyone has them.
