Using smf to stream to a tv - possible?

Jun 24, 2011 at 4:44 PM

This discussion may be more appropriate on silverlight forum but thought I would post here first...

We have developed a solution using smf.  We have customers asking for our solution on a tv instead of a pc.  Are there any t.v. manufactures that support silverlight 4 and that would allow me to deploy a streaming solution with smf?  If not are there other solutions in the works possibly html 5 smooth streaming?  The requirement is to have all the software on a t.v. External boxes like boxee or xbox won't meet the requirement.

Thanks,

andy

Hi Andy

I haven't heard of the any current generation TV's supporting Silverlight. It is usually a combination of HTML and some JS player API.

I think Samsung however supports Widevines adaptive streaming stuff: http://widevine.com/video_optimization.html which should give you somewhat similar performance to Smooth Streaming

It is a very fragmented market though, so its though to say anything in general
