Cannot get SMF Player Demo code to run for WP7

Mar 7, 2011 at 5:51 AM

I have created a WP7 application to run the sample code in the documentation contained at the at the bottom of the page at the following link:

I have the 2.3 wp7 binaries on my machine.

I have the 1.5 smooth streaming client for wp7.

I have followed all instructions, my app compiles and runs in the emulator, but no video loads.

I've been pulling my hair out for the last few hours trying to get to this work.

Before I lose all my hair, anyone have any advice?

Thanks for the help!

You might have found a solution by this point but in case you have not. I tried recreating the same example as the one in the link above and it did not load for me either.

What I did was to look at my references and noticed that a few references mentioned in the article were missing from my project, and these missing references did not cause any compilation errors, warnings to show up.

I added these references (except for Microsoft.Web.Media.SmoothStreaming.dll  which I did not think was necessary in this scenario) after this, the example worked for me.

Hope this helps.

What video format are you trying to play back?

IIRC the emulator only supports VC-1, if you want to try H.264 it has to be on a device with the usb cable unplugged.
