Hello all,

just tried to play a live smooth stream but did not succeed.

1)I've followed the istructions and setted up a playlist item with mediasource=http://ecn.channell9.msdn.com/o9/content/smf/smoothcontent/bbbwp7/big buck bunny.ism/manifest

and it works great.

2)I've setted up a live stream source encoding from EE4 and setting up a specific profile for Windows Phone (all the streams have the same resolution because WP7 V1.0 doesn support resolution change) but it cant play

Debugging with fiddler I have noticed that the player gets the manifest from the IIS server and then it gets the first audio and video chunks but then it stops fetching data.

Anyone experienced such a behaviour or has some comments to help.

Thanks alot and keep up the good work.

@nanus, try hooking up mediafailed event to see if playback is failing. You might want to look here for some limitations of the WP7 platform for encoding - http://vishalsood.com/content/2010/12/03/iis-smooth-streaming-encoding-windows-phone-7.

vishalhood,

looking at the media failed event it gives AG_E_NETWORK_ERROR.

I didn't mention that my problem is relative to the emulator only. The behaviour is the following:

-if encoding with a specific profile for WP7 using VC1 I can test the smooth stream successfully both on the emulator and on the real phone

-if encoding with a specific profile for WP7 using H264 I can test the smooth stream successfully on the real phone but not on the emulator

Thanks for your reply

@nanus. yes, your observation on emulator is correct. I talk about this in the article link I put up above. Emulator does not support h.264 today.
