Progressive Download Template

Latest released Progressive Download HTML template does not work. It gives an error on the first line, first character Silverlight.js. There is a reference to Silverlight.js, same folder but don't see the file.

Smooth Streaming Player template has Silverlight.js reference too, but it's working.

Thanks,

Bhaktavatsal, I assume you are running the HTML file from your local file system?  If so, the reason you can’t play the video is Silverlight’s cross-scheme access policy: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb820909.aspx  Boiled down, this means you cannot access a non-streaming media (i.e. WMV) over HTTP when SL is loaded from the file system.  I unzipped the template onto a web server to demonstrate that it works when SL is loaded over HTTP: http://smf.vertigo.com/v2/progressivedownloadplayer-2.2010.0705.1/progressivedownloadplayer/progressivedownloadplayer.html

You could throw the template files into your local IIS, then you could load the template via HTTP and see the video.

Yes, My bad. You are right.

Still confused though about reference to Silverlight.js in the HTML file as that does not exists in the download.

Thanks,

I just looked at the source and noticed there's a <script/> tag in the HTML referencing Silverlight.js.  Fortunately this file isn't really needed and the JS warning can be safely ignored.  In your own project just omit the reference.

<script type="text/javascript" src="Silverlight.js"></script>
